How Sarah Palin Doesn’t Begin to Compare to Barack Obama

Recently, I had to chime in on a comment made to Sam’s blog, concerning Sarah Palin.  The commenter was still harboring some misconceptions about Sarah Palin being “more qualified than Obama.”  He said, “Tell me what he has done, and show me.”

Well, I did just that, and what I learned in the process really crystallized my wonder at how the hell she got on the ticket.  Here’s the comparison:

While Sarah Palin was bouncing among five colleges, and preparing for the Miss Alaska Beauty Contest, Barack Obama was finishing his BA in political science with an emphasis on international relations at Columbia, currently the #8 school in the country.

At the age of 23, he’d already seen more of the world than Palin has seen at 44. In fact, just last month, he was a guest speaker in more foreign countries (7) than Sarah Palin has even visited (4, including Canada and Mexico).  Heck, give her credit for just having stared across the Bering Strait at Russia, bringing her total to 5, and she’s still less traveled. Sarah Palin: Ahmadinejad in Heels

President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and Sarah Palin.  One’s a naive, oil-obsessed, holy war-calling, religious extremist, and the other is an Iranian.  Here’s the Lovesick Billy take on this dynamic duo:

Ahmadinejad: Thinks the Holocaust is a myth.

Palin: Thinks evolution is a myth.

Ahmadinejad & Palin: Were not widely known when they entered their presidential election campaigns, although they had already made their marks for rolling back earlier reforms. Continue reading ‘Sarah Palin: Ahmadinejad in Heels’

Mom Sings on YouTube

This is a track that my Mom, Conny Van Dyke, recorded in the Winter of 1962 for Motown.  It was released the following Spring.  It was posted by a fan in Gloucester, UK, where she is in the canon of cherished Northern Soul artists.  Many thanks to Dave for posting it.

Hollyweird: McConaughey’s Dad Had a Huge Schlong

Matt in Dazed and Confused

As reported on FOX news: Matthew McConaughey’s Mom writes in I Amaze Myself, her modestly titled, tell-all book.

Kay McConaughey used to make love to her husband, Jim, as a way to say goodbye every morning.  That’s adorable (and recommended).  On one of these amorous mornings, however, Jim Continue reading ‘Hollyweird: McConaughey’s Dad Had a Huge Schlong’

Lily Allen, Our Hero(ine)

Lily Allen is brilliant and political, with the freshly-leaked GWB (Guess Who Batman) a.k.a. Fuck You Very Much, a plinky Carpenter-esque mashup with a message to the hateful and narrow-minded BNP – a British far-right, gay-hating, white supremacist political party. I didn’t need any more reasons to love this girl, after what I’ve heard of her, but I may as well add two more. She’s got more balls than a snooker table and her heart in the right place. If she’s not at the top of the list for every major metropolitan Pride, then some queens are not paying attention. Check her out.

The lyrics follow: Continue reading ‘Lily Allen, Our Hero(ine)’

Our Life on the D-List

The waiting is over. The show aired. Kathy was hysterical. I couldn’t be prouder of Sam. India was even more beautiful than I remembered (if that’s possible) and none of you saw the best/funniest stuff.

After Kathy kissed India, Sam was dared to make out with a straight girl, and I was dared to… well, let’s just say that the lesson learned was not to wear just a Speedo to a game of Truth or Dare, especially with Kathy Griffin and India Brooks. Naugty girls. Here are the photos… Continue reading ‘Our Life on the D-List’

The Return of Conny Van Dyke

I’m not saying where. I’m not saying when. Yet.

But… my Mom, Conny Van Dyke, is back.  Stay tuned.
