Now That We Can All Marry, Why Aren’t We?

Sam and I wasted no time getting legally married.  We were in line, in the sun on 6/17, doing our best to ignore the handful of shouting haters in attendance and making friends in line.  The haters left after just a couple of hours.  Perfect.

Since then, we’ve encouraged our other partnered friends to tie the legal knot, and so far, only one has followed suit.  While their presence at our wedding in April, 2007 kinda cinched it for them, I’m sure they’d planned to marry legally before we spoke to them. A Day at Blond Beach

Sam and I went to Laguna Beach today, to West beach, the ‘other’ gay section of beach since the closing of the Boom Boom Room. The funny news is on our way there, we noticed that the now closed Boom Boom Room is being renovated and converted into – wait for it – The DNC HQ.

If you’ve read me at all, you know that blond men make me giggle like a fraternity pledge. I prefer to bring my own blond (BYOB) wherever I go, but Laguna Beach is fantastic if you like blondes of any sex. There was a point when Sam and I were crossing the street to go to Avila’s El Ranchito (a.k.a. El Coyote Del Mar), when there were no fewer than a dozen blond guys in sight (and all about 23 which doesn’t hurt either). It was like a harmonic convergence of peroxide proportions. I turned to Sam, who saw my face light up, and said, Continue reading ‘A Day at Blond Beach’

Our Life on the D-List

The waiting is over. The show aired. Kathy was hysterical. I couldn’t be prouder of Sam. India was even more beautiful than I remembered (if that’s possible) and none of you saw the best/funniest stuff.

After Kathy kissed India, Sam was dared to make out with a straight girl, and I was dared to… well, let’s just say that the lesson learned was not to wear just a Speedo to a game of Truth or Dare, especially with Kathy Griffin and India Brooks. Naugty girls. Here are the photos… Continue reading ‘Our Life on the D-List’

A House Boy?

I had a dream last night that Sam turned to me and said, “I think we should find a houseboy.”

“Really?” I was incredulous, because it was one of those more-real-than-reality dreams and I couldn’t believe my ears. “You’re not serious.”

His trademark ever-sensible tone told me he was serious. “Think of the money we pay Dora every week. Now think of the fact that we have two extra bedrooms. Now think about the dogs having a walk every day, and everything being (said with all the reverence Virgos give this word) *clean*… every day.”

Dream Sam had a point.

I’m reading Tim Ferriss’ book right now, and it sounds like something he’d totally go along with. Continue reading ‘A House Boy?’

Kathy Griffin & The Pages, “Busted in Bora Bora”

Sam and I will (possibly) be on Kathy Griffin’s My Life on the D-List, this Thursday, July 24, on Bravo. The episode is called “Busted in Bora Bora.” I say (possibly) because we don’t know how the show was edited and if we’re in or out until the party on Thursday evening, where we’ll see it simulcast with the Eastern Standard Time broadcast (three hours earlier than the rest of L.A.)

As you will recall, we went to Bora Bora in the Spring, so Sam could interview Kathy for Passport Magazine. We couldn’t show you all of the pictures, for a couple of reasons. Continue reading ‘Kathy Griffin & The Pages, “Busted in Bora Bora”’

Mommie Dearest vs. The Dark Knight

The Dark Knight is sold out, solid, all over town, so Sam and I stayed in this weekend and tried to approximate the experience as best we could, by watching Mommie Dearest.

The first time I saw Mommie Dearest was within a year of the premiere, but on HBO, at home. I was 12 or 13. Soon thereafter, I got into a fight with Mom and called her “Mommy Dearest.” It earned me the requisite slap across the face. God, how dramatic. In fact, we both realized we’d been caught up in a wave of self-concocted drama and busted out laughing. How Camp. (That link, btw, is the best intellectual discussion of Camp, ever.) Off-Beat Porn: Leather & Pinstripes

Okay, we’ve covered the suit fetish, which is fairly well-known. We all know about the foot fetish, which definitely extends to dress shoes and men’s hosiery, although that part is completely lost on me. The gloves, the shoes, the couch… all black leather. It might not be lost on you, so find out. Check out this clip of very specific, completely SFW, and beautifully-produced, off-beat porn.

Off-Beat Porn: Suits

This is easily one of the most interesting videos I’ve found on YouTube. With over 18,000 views, and totally SFW, I promise you that somebody finds this intensely erotic. Maybe you.

Why Don’t Republicans Just Come Out?

I really feel for Glenn Murphy, even though he’s an idiot. When will these GOP dudes learn to come out with some dignity? They’re setting us back decades.

Glenn Murphy Jr., is the newly resigned chairman of the Clark County Republican Party and newly resigned president of the Young Republican National Federation (which sounds eerily like something Hitler might have been into).

After a Young Republicans get-together last July, Murphy and a 22-year old buddy of his retired to a pair of bunk beds to sleep it off after a night of tax breaks and tequila shots. Continue reading ‘Why Don’t Republicans Just Come Out?’

25 Live: George Michael in Anaheim

It’s always a little scary to see your icons live, lest they disappoint you. Last weekend, at Honda Center, formerly Arrowhead Pond, in Anaheim George Michael reminded us why he is an icon, and nobody was disappointed.

He’s come a long way since I saw him last, in WHAM, circa 1984 in the Miami Baseball Stadium. It was a wake me up before you gogo thing, a repressed homosexual lust thing, and a fleeting 80’s thing. They were fun, but who knew half of WHAM would become the fully-realized, world-class entertainer who performed last night? At times, it looks as if even George never expected it himself.
