Breaking Bread with General Hospital’s Julius, a.k.a. Gregory Zarian

You can get a great French baguette at 4151 Prospect Avenue, in Hollywood, even though it’s not a bakery. It’s the office of the executives who work on General Hospital for ABC.

GH fans, and particularly Julius fans, are really dedicated. They want Julius back, and are going to any length to make it happen, including sending French baguettes to the execs. Why baguettes? If you’re not a GH watcher, it’s all explained here in my interview with Gregory Zarian who played Julius, and won the hearts of thousands of adoring fans. Check out the video below, one of many posted to YouTube, and feel the love.

Gregory is actually a friend of mine, and he was happy to tell me (and you) all about the campaign to BRING JULIUS BACK, answer the Lovesick Questions, and clarify the whole baguette thing for those of us who aren’t devoted GH fans… yet. Barack Obama, as You Have Never Seen Him

Sam and I set out last night for one our favorite Mexican restaurants: the newly refurbished El Chavo in Los Feliz. We headed west, by way of Silver Lake when on Sunset Blvd., just before Dodger Stadium, we encountered a wall of rainbow-colored portraits of Abraham Lincoln that looked oddly, and simultaneously familiar and unfamiliar. Sam and Bronson by Tom Bianchi

In late March, Sam and I were invited to Tom Bianchi‘s home in Palm Springs to be photographed for one of his upcoming Bianchi Men collections. It was an honor and a privilege, and a learning experience that transcended the photography itself. Tom shared with us the philosophy behind his art.

It’s always fun to be shot with Sam, and I was thrilled that Tom was recording the last fleeting days of my thirties. This was the week before my 40th birthday.

The photos have arrived, and Sam and I are really pleased. I think they really capture the excitement of the day, and the intimacy Sam and I share. I love the ones with Sam reading Tom’s copy of Where the Wild Things Are, dedicated to him by his friend, Maurice Sendak. Tom said he’d send one to Maurice, and Sam was thrilled. So here are the shots I can share with you. Warning: if you click here, you will see our butts. Continue reading ‘Sam and Bronson by Tom Bianchi’

Now That We Can All Marry, Why Aren’t We?

Sam and I wasted no time getting legally married.  We were in line, in the sun on 6/17, doing our best to ignore the handful of shouting haters in attendance and making friends in line.  The haters left after just a couple of hours.  Perfect.

Since then, we’ve encouraged our other partnered friends to tie the legal knot, and so far, only one has followed suit.  While their presence at our wedding in April, 2007 kinda cinched it for them, I’m sure they’d planned to marry legally before we spoke to them. A Day at Blond Beach

Sam and I went to Laguna Beach today, to West beach, the ‘other’ gay section of beach since the closing of the Boom Boom Room. The funny news is on our way there, we noticed that the now closed Boom Boom Room is being renovated and converted into – wait for it – The DNC HQ.

If you’ve read me at all, you know that blond men make me giggle like a fraternity pledge. I prefer to bring my own blond (BYOB) wherever I go, but Laguna Beach is fantastic if you like blondes of any sex. There was a point when Sam and I were crossing the street to go to Avila’s El Ranchito (a.k.a. El Coyote Del Mar), when there were no fewer than a dozen blond guys in sight (and all about 23 which doesn’t hurt either). It was like a harmonic convergence of peroxide proportions. I turned to Sam, who saw my face light up, and said, Continue reading ‘A Day at Blond Beach’

Our Life on the D-List

The waiting is over. The show aired. Kathy was hysterical. I couldn’t be prouder of Sam. India was even more beautiful than I remembered (if that’s possible) and none of you saw the best/funniest stuff.

After Kathy kissed India, Sam was dared to make out with a straight girl, and I was dared to… well, let’s just say that the lesson learned was not to wear just a Speedo to a game of Truth or Dare, especially with Kathy Griffin and India Brooks. Naugty girls. Here are the photos… Continue reading ‘Our Life on the D-List’

A House Boy?

I had a dream last night that Sam turned to me and said, “I think we should find a houseboy.”

“Really?” I was incredulous, because it was one of those more-real-than-reality dreams and I couldn’t believe my ears. “You’re not serious.”

His trademark ever-sensible tone told me he was serious. “Think of the money we pay Dora every week. Now think of the fact that we have two extra bedrooms. Now think about the dogs having a walk every day, and everything being (said with all the reverence Virgos give this word) *clean*… every day.”

Dream Sam had a point.

I’m reading Tim Ferriss’ book right now, and it sounds like something he’d totally go along with. Continue reading ‘A House Boy?’
