Marriage: Cynthia Nixon Can’t Be this Juvenile, Can she?

Britney Spears doesn’t corner the market on harebrained reasons for getting married. Just in case you think hets are the only ones with flimsy reasons for marriage, and that marriage means everything to all of us legally unrecognized homos, check out Sex and the City’s Cynthia Nixon, commenting on if she would marry her girlfriend:

“I think that to get married to her would be a little act of rebellion. It’s like if you’ve never had the vote and then you get it you’re going to run out there and vote.”

A little act of rebellion. Isn’t that neato? You know, like flash mobs or graffiti, or flicking the teacher off behind her back, or farting in church. So where does one get the ring for just such a proposal? A cracker jack box? Hey honey, let’s make the legitimacy of our relationship into a ‘little act of rebellion’. What a charmer.

Well, she’s a Nixon, after all. Charm runs in the family.

She’s not the marrying kind. Before she gave into her lesbian desires, she was with her boyfriend for almost 14 years and they never married. She will never be an advocate for any type of committed relationships.
